25-26 Returning Substitute Educational Aide/ParaPro Applicants

Credentials Required for RETURNING Substitute Educational Aide/ParaPro

1) Stark County ESC RENEWAL Form (Google form)

Click Here and complete the Substitute Aide/ParaPro Renewal Form to indicate whether or not you are returning to substitute teach in the 2025-26 school year.
The Google Form link is also accessible in your ESC assigned sub Gmail.
This form is required and states your intent to sub again.
Complete all required fields including location preferences for the 2025-26 school year.
If you choose NOT to sub again in 2025-26, please choose that option so we can take your name OFF the sub list.

2) Background Check through Fingerprinting

Valid BCI and FBI background check results through fingerprinting are required.
If your last background check has expired, Click Here to schedule an appointment through our website.
If your BCI/FBI expired and was completed elsewhere or you choose to use a different fingerprinting facility to have them updated, you would need to make sure of the following:
- FBI expires five years from date completed; BCI does not expire if you have been a resident of Ohio the past five years.
- Must be electronically sent to the Ohio Department of Education at the time of fingerprinting for licensure purposes (reason code: 3319.291).
- A copy must be mailed directly to: Substitute Office, Stark County ESC, 6057 Strip Ave. NW, North Canton, OH 44720.

3) Licensure issued by the Ohio State Board of Education (SBOE)

Valid Ohio licensure is required – Educational Aide Permit OR standard Ohio Teaching License OR a Substitute Teaching License.
RENEW your licensure as follows:
- Click Here
- Login with your credentials.
- Click on "My Apps" or "App Store."
- Go to: Educator Licensure and Records (CORE).
- Follow any verification/update prompts.
- Under "my credentials" you'll see your last permit/license, click the "action" drop-down to RENEW.
- Follow the rest of the prompts on the screen and answer necessary questions.
- Under the Superintendent's signature, click "find" and put in IRN#049825, select Stark County ESC.
- Then pay and submit with a bank account or credit card online.

After the above three steps are completed and reviewed, you will be contacted via ESC assigned Gmail regarding “next steps” in completing online documents and public school works.

It is imperative that you communicate using your ESC assigned sub Gmail account for payroll and anything substitute related. You are no longer allowed to forward your sub Gmail to your personal email account. This is for security purposes and fraud/scam reasons.
