Program for Students With Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD)

The Stark County Educational Service Center's Department of Student Services operates classrooms in collaboration with city and local school districts.  The program for students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) has classrooms located throughout Stark County.  Intervention specialists are certified to instruct all core content areas for students in kindergarten through graduation.

The EBD classrooms are behaviorally and academically focused with a high degree of structure and routine.  Instruction and behavioral interventions are developed around Individual Education Plans (IEPs).  Instruction is implemented in a small group setting or one-on-one.  Interventions and instruction vary to meet each students' individualized needs based on their emotional/behavioral strengths and weaknesses as well as their learning styles.  Students may participate in the regular education classroom based on their ability to maintain emotional and academic behaviors as identified in their IEP.  Strategies and supports to navigate a students' mental health needs are applied at a classroom level by the instructor, through a licensed social worker, or through the collaboration with a counselor from CommQuest Services.
