Physical Therapy (PT)

Physical Therapists here at the Stark County Educational Service Center are Ohio licensed professionals who specialize in the pediatric population.  Our services are provided within the school environments to address student needs with regards to: gross motor skills, coordination/balance skills, and mobility skills.  We also work closely with the school staff to ensure that the school environments are adapted for safety and ease of accessibility, modify any equipment needs, modify physical education activities, and train staff on proper lifting/transfer techniques.

Our physical therapy staff consists of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.  The physical therapist (PT's) provides: initial evaluations, reevaluations, development of goals/objectives for each student, direct treatments, adapting equipment, wheelchair quotes and maintenance, assisting in obtaining orthotics, and supervision of the physical therapist assistants.  Our physical therapy assistants (PTA's) provide direct treatments, consult with teachers, assist with modifying equipment, and develop exercise programs; all under the supervision of the physical therapist.  Both the PT and PTA collaborate with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team members to ensure that student needs are met and physical therapy goals are achieved.
