Math Tournament
The 2009 GCCTM Math Tournament was held Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the Jackson Middle School. Approximately 480 students in grades 5, 6, and 7 competed in the areas of mental computation, geometry/measurement, computation, word problems and team problem solving. Participating districts included Alliance City, Canton City, Canton Local, Fairless Local, Green Local, Jackson Local, Lake Local, Minerva Local, Massillon City, North Canton City, and Perry Local.
Approximately 120 teachers, administrators and parents volunteered to proctor tests and score answers while students enjoyed a fun dance.

Students then received trophies and ribbons during the Awards Ceremony while family and community members cheered and applauded their achievements.

Purposes of the GCCTM Math Tournament:
- Stimulate interest in mathematics.
- Recognize the achievements in mathematics of students.
- Give students the opportunity to gain recognition on a much broader basis.
- Provide mathematically gifted students with an opportunity to meet and come to know their counterparts in other schools.
- Have fun with Math.
