Purpose
- To build a sense of community by sharing information and providing parent/child support to all program members
- To provide quality Early Childhood Program which complies with the Ohio Department of Education rules and regulations

Who is on the Council?
- Parents and guardians of children enrolled in the SCIP or Early Childhood Education Programs are welcome to attend all meetings
|
|
|
What does the Parent Council do?
- Share information
- Provide parental input to the preschool program
- Become a child and education advocates
- Assist in publicizing and developing community awareness of the programs
- Recognize teachers and volunteers
- Gather and share resources
- Assist preschool sites in developing and implementing parent/family involvement activities
- Provide opportunities to become acquainted with other parents

How are representatives chosen?
- At the initial meeting each year, teachers recruit two parents to represent their classroom at Parent Council Meetings.

When do they meet?
- Typically the third Wednesday of each month from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m., September through May (except December & January)
|

What is provided?
- Refreshments and door prizes
- Babysitting is available at no charge
- Representatives
receive a $10 stipend per meeting to cover transportation costs (must
attend a minimum of five meeting to receive stipend - subject to
contract conditions)

Goals and objectives
- To keep the lines of communication open between parents, children, staff, and community
- To encourage cooperation between parents and staff to meet the needs of the children and their families
- To
provide a learning experience for parents to develop leadership skills
so they may become more active in advisory committees, the school PTO
and community organizations, and work as an advocate for the Early
Childhood Program
