For 26 years, the Stark County ESC, along with the Canton South Rotary, have provided students with special needs the opportunity to participate in olympic events. These experiences result in the ultimate: individual recognition in front of ones peers, and winning the gold medal. It doesn’t get better than that!
Participating districts compete in a variety of events: obstacle course, 50-yard dash, soccer ball kick, football pass, bowling, basketball field goal, softball batting, base running, and frisbee throw.
At the event’s completion, participants receive gold medals. Hundreds of volunteers donate their time and mascots representing each district are on hand to congratulate the athletes. The combined efforts of the sponsors, volunteers, and districts made this day very special for these exceptional students.
